Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Pairlyx (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a technical interview platform operated by an independent developer. Our service is hosted on infrastructure based in the European Union (Hetzner, Nuremberg, Germany). Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected].
2. What data we collect
Account data
When you sign in with email or Google via Clerk, we receive your email address and display name. We store your email address and plan status in our database. We do not store your password or Google access token.
Interview session data
When you run an interview, we store: the interview title, candidate link, start and end times, interviewer notes, your chosen programming language, and, if the interviewer enters one, the candidate's name. At the end of a session, code editor content and system design canvas state are captured as a compressed snapshot and stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage. These snapshots are used exclusively to generate the AI-generated review and to display the session summary.
AI review data
When a session ends, the code snapshot is sent to NVIDIA's NIM API (currently a Llama-based model) to generate a structured summary. The resulting review is stored in our database and associated with your interview. NVIDIA's data processing is governed by NVIDIA's Privacy Policy.
Usage analytics
We use PostHog (EU cloud, hosted at eu.posthog.com) to collect product analytics and session recordings. This includes page views, feature usage, and browser/device information. PostHog data is processed within the EU.
Payment data
Billing is handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and current plan status. We do not store full card numbers or payment details — those are held exclusively by Stripe and governed by their Privacy Policy.
3. How we use your data
- To authenticate you and manage your account
- To run and store interview sessions you create
- To generate an AI-powered session review when a session ends
- To process subscription payments via Stripe
- To send transactional emails (review-ready notifications, team invites) via our SMTP email provider
- To improve the product via anonymised usage analytics via PostHog
We do not sell your data, share it for advertising purposes, or use interview content to train AI models beyond what is described above.
4. Third-party processors
| Processor | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Authentication (email + Google OAuth) | US / EU |
| Stripe | Payment processing | US / EU |
| NVIDIA NIM | AI review generation | US |
| Cloudflare R2 | Session snapshot storage | EU |
| PostHog | Product analytics | EU |
| SMTP email provider | Transactional email | Depends on configured provider |
| Hetzner | Server hosting (database, app) | EU (Germany) |
5. Data retention
Your account data and interviews are retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and interview records are deleted within 30 days. Code and canvas snapshots stored in Cloudflare R2 are deleted at the same time. Stripe retains billing records as required by financial regulations; we cannot delete those on your behalf.
6. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies
We use session cookies set by Clerk for authentication. PostHog sets a first-party analytics cookie to identify returning visitors. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser, but this will prevent you from signing in.
8. Candidates and non-account users
Candidates who join an interview through a shared link do not create a Pairlyx account and are not directly bound by this policy. Instead, the interviewer who created the session is responsible for informing candidates that the session is being recorded and processed, per our Terms of Service. Data we process on a candidate's behalf is limited to what they contribute during the session — their code and canvas contributions, and, if the interviewer records one, the candidate's name — and is treated the same as the interviewer's own interview data for storage and deletion purposes (see Sections 2 and 5).
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance.
